Another Great Haiku & More Poetry

A best friend from college traveled to Tanzania recently and sent me a delightfully blue t-shirt as a souvenir. The front says, "Mambo! Poa Kichizi Kama Ndizi!" I have it on good authority that this means, "What's up! Crazy Cool like a Banana!"

Also, here is another great haiku courtesy of the same friend.

Alas. Woe is me.
Economy is lousy.
Please stimulate me.

Awesome Haikus

Courtesy of Real Simple, a magazine I swiped from the gym today. Shh, don't tell.

I was running late.
I forgot to brush my teeth.
Please forgive my breath.

What an awful smell
when I open this Ziploc.
How can I eat this?

Valentine's Day Dinner Courtesy of DK

Heidi Klum

On my flight back to Boston, the in-flight entertainment was the E! True Hollywood Story of Heidi Klum. There are 2 reasons why I should be embarrassed to admit this.

1. I've actually watched a portion of the Heidi Klum story at home.
2. I was very annoyed when the flight attendants turned it off 80% of the way through. After all, who wouldn't want to know what how Miss Klum managed to go from giving birth to strutting the Victoria Secret catwalk in only 8 weeks?

TSA 1, JC 1

I was going through the TSA security screening last night to board a flight to Chicago for the weekend, when the TSA agent decided to confiscate my butter knives. I had packed an extra set of spoons, forks, and knives for DK since the ones he had were reminiscent of very fancy plastic utensils used once too often.

A year ago, I had packed my 7-in Shun Santoku knife on my carry-on and sailed through security without so much as a peep. Does this make any sense? Three butter knives are more dangerous than an extremely sharp Damascus steel kitchen knife?

Score: TSA 1, JC 1

Hurrah for Wine

At last night's dinner party, ES told us about a clever drinking game his section invented called "No Face". It's dead simple: You have a bottle (or bottles) of vodka. You chug as much of the bottle as possible in one gulp, and when you're finished, you cannot make a face. If you make any face, you continue the gulp-face combo until you succeed. And they say b-school students aren't creative....

Speaking of drunk, Joaquim Phoenix seems to have had a bit too much as well.
